Accreditation is an ongoing process of assessing health and social services organizations against standards of excellence to identify what is being done well and what needs to be improved. Accreditation in important because it helps create better health care and social services for you, your family, and your community. It allows organizations to understand how to make better use of their resources, increase efficiency, enhance quality and safety, and reduce risk.
Accreditation provides health and social services organizations an independent, third-party assessment of their organization using standards built upon best practices used and validated by similar organizations around the world.
Fiddicks Nursing Home is accredited through Accreditation Canada to make better use of our resources by focusing on:
- Increasing efficiency
- Quality and safety
- Improving communications among staff
- Reducing risk and variances
There is a Cogeco Package available, with the charge added to your monthly statement. We do ask that Resident’s making use of radios and televisions to respect the rights of other Residents with regards to noise.
We encourage community involvement and attempt to strengthen the association between the Residents and the surrounding community. Efforts will be made to involve Residents in the local community, by both inviting community groups to visit the Home and planning community outings.
Personalized mail that has been received with be delivered on a daily basis. Outgoing mail should be given to the medical secretary for processing. Residents are responsible for their own postage.
Parking is located in 3 areas: at the main entrance, on the side of the road in front of the building and in the parking lot adjacent to the home.
All pets must have been properly vaccinated, housebroken and leashed prior to visiting the Home. A copy of current (annual) vaccination records are required and are mandatory. Pets must be well tempered, have good health and have properly trimmed nails.
Smoking is not allowed in the bedrooms, corridors, entrances, sitting rooms, washrooms, or dining rooms. There will be no smoking inside the facility whatsoever. Registered staff must keep all cigarettes and lighters/matches locked up as per Ministry of Health Regulations. Residents who smoke are able to do so in the Gazebo in the main courtyard as per fire code regulations (9 meters from any entrance). Fiddicks is a cannabis and vape free facility

There are televisions in Resident lounges for Resident’s use at no cost. Should a Resident prefer to have his/her own television in his/her room, they may do so if they desire. We refrain from having tube televisions. The maximum size for a television is 50 inches. We do not provide the mounting brackets, however our maintenance personnel will install and mount the TV if one is provided.
Volunteers are always needed to help organize programs and provide individual services. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer, please contact the Activity Director. You may wish to join local support groups such as the Alzheimer Society, Parkinson’s Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Huntington’s Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation.
